Brandon Flowers – Swallow It Mp3
Music — By Andrew Evans on 21/08/10With Brandon Flowers‘ debut solo single Crossfire proving one of this blog’s most popular Mp3 downloads, i’ve been waiting with baited breath to get my hands on a second offering. And here it is: Swallow It.
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times Flowers joked about the song’s possibly controversial title.
“It’s just starting to come to my attention that it might be controversial. I really didn’t consider that. I was going to have a spoof on the U2 track Pride (In The Name of Love) and call it Pride (You Could Not Swallow It).”
Unfortunately for Flowers, it’s the song rather than the title that sounds like a spoof. I genuinely enjoyed Crossfire, as many of you did, but to me this sounds like a half-baked demo. One in which Flowers falls back into the same lyrical trap that he so often does – ‘If it rhymes, it must be good.’ I hope it will grow on me, but if i’m honest I ain’t loving it.
