Listen: Lana Del Rey – Born To Die

January is shaping up to be a good month. New albums from The Maccabees, The Big Pink, Nada Surf  and this young lady are all, to say the very least, sounding promising.

That Lana Del Rey’s debut single Video Games hit the Top 10 here in the UK was phenomenal and it no doubt raises expectations of what the album could do upon it’s release on 30th January.

Before that though we have this, her second single and the title track of the album, Born To Die. It’s another slab of the seductive noir-pop that she mastered so well on Video Games, with her singing “take a walk on the wild side, let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain..”

She sounds strangely detached. Stranger still, it really works.  2012 is going to be a huge year for her.
