If 2008′s Day & Age saw The Killers try to slip back into their dancing shoes after the dirt and dust of the guitar heavy Sam’s Town, then Runaways, the first single from fourth album Battle Born, is again the sound of a group taking an about turn.
The photo says it all. Two of them are wearing leather jackets. The others, denim.
The track opens very much like many of the tracks from Brandon Flowers’s solo record before the whole thing lifts off into true bombast and Flowers swears on the head of his unborn child.
It takes a while for the chorus to kick in, almost two minutes in fact, but when it does it’s well worth it.
Ladies and gentlemen, The Killers are back. For their sheer ambition alone, it’s good to hear from them again.
