Listen: Tom Greenwood – Give Up

Tom Greenwood2When you chart music history way back to the beggining, seeking out pivitol places in the format’s unstoppable domination of pop culture, you immediately think of your Londons, New Yorks, Manchesters and Seattles.

One place your mind perhaps doesn’t instantly go to is East Malling. Which is a shame, because something quite lovely is hiding there.

This is Tom Greenwood’s debut song. We felt strange calling it a single, as it is entirely self-released, self-produced and has literally only been part of this world a few hours at the time of writing.

‘Give Up’ is dark, yet deliciously warm pop music. Part Hurts, part The Neighbourhood this is too direct, too singalong to be labelled chillwave, but in it’s spralling, shimmering guitars it nods it’s head to artists such as Washed Out and Cemeteries.

Basically, we love it. More please, sir.
