Whilst everyone had their eyes peered on America’s west coast for the annual Oscars madness, New York’s most unpredictable alternative outfit have crept out from under their metropolitan rock to claim back 2013 as their own.
Last month The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s caught everyone by surprise, revealing the details of fourth album ‘Mosquito’ (their first since 2009), prompting a wave of anticipation, whilst work began on the inevitable insect based puns that will accompany the reviews.
Well, after a month of playing their previous three albums on repeat to tide us over, the trio have finally given us some new material, premiering their first single in four years on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show last night.
‘Sacrilege’ lives up to it’s religious namesake, as Karen O’s angelic vocals offset a slow groove that builds into a no-holds barred eruption of gospel choirs and guitars. Lord help us if the rest of the album is this good.
‘Mosquito’ drops on April 15th through Universal Records, check out ‘Sacrilege’ below:
