Let’s do it:
1. Vampire Weekend – Diane Young
“Vampire Weekend’s forthcoming third studio album Modern Vampires Of The City is due for release via XL Recordings on May 6, and in preperation the group have streamed two brand spanking new songs from it.
Set for release as a double A side, ‘Diane Young’ and ‘Step’ are both utterly fantastic.
The former has the slightest hint of 50′s rock n roll to it, as well as an occasionaly distorted vocal from Ezra Koenig, and is the more upbeat of the two new tracks.”
2. Savages – She Will
“A dark, sulking, spitting surge of echoey guitars that bursts into ferocious glory in its final stages, it’s pleasing to see that Savages haven’t let their edges become softened.”
3. Noah and the Whale – There Will Come A Time
“If the first snippet of new album Heart of Nowhere – which got it’s first play on Radio 1 tonight – is anything to go by it does follow on naturally from its predecessor in a way the band haven’t done before. It’s still widescreen. It still has that Tom Petty, roof down vibe.”
4. Mt Wolf – Shapeshift
“The group have released a video for another track off their upcoming Hypolight EP, the equally beautiful ‘Shapeshift’. Stylishly presented across an entirely black and white video, the track is another haunting, glitchy, beat-orientated slab of 2013 indie.”
5. Daughter – Perth x Ready For The Floor (Radio 1 Session)
“The trio popped in to BBC Radio 1 on Wednesday night to perform a jaw-dropping session excusively for Zane Lowe. It included this: a gorgeous, slow-burning mix up of Bon Iver’s ‘Perth’ and Hot Chip’s ‘Ready For The Floor’. Although completely contrasting in their original formats, the group transform them into one continous torch song.”
