Listen: Catfish and the Bottlemen – Homesick

Welsh four-piece Catfish and the Bottlemen aren’t exactly what you’d expect from a new Communion Records signing. They aren’t particularly beardy. They don’t wear much plaid. And they don’t carry acoustic guitars.

‘Homesick’, their debut single may start off fairly quiet, but by its first chorus at 42 seconds it bursts into enormo-dome arena rock.

The distortion on the vocal leaves lead singer Van McCann sounding similar to Julian Casablancas at times, however this is a song ‘bigger’ than The Strokes were ever happy to be.

And, at less two-and-a-half minutes this never outstays its welcome. ‘Homesick’ is due out on 17th June.
