It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for the-still-ludicrously-young London Grammar. Not only were they invited onto the bill of The xx’s brilliant Night + Day shows, but the trio also played a number of sets throughout the Glastonbury weekend.
It’s not hard to understand why, with a track record of increasingly stand-up-and-take-notice singles. Their newest offering, which was premiered tonight by BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe, is perhaps their best yet.
A swelling, atmospheric near-ballad, ‘Strong’ has just the tiniest hint of of Coldplay’s ‘Trouble’ in it’s verses, before Hannah Reid’s voice goes truly stratospheric in the track’s emotive chorus.
London Grammar’s debut album is scheduled for release later this year. Listen to ‘Strong’ below.
