Track of the Day: Swim Deep – Crush

We don’t know if it’s the weather, or just the overwhelmingly nostalgic quality to their sound, but Swim Deep have rapidly become one of the perfect bands for the summer.

Like the musical equivalent of an Instagram filter, their septia tinged 90’s panache has seen the four piece break out of Birmingham in the last year to enamour festival crowds nationwide, bringing a sense of fun and intelligence back to indie pop.

With a long awaited debut album ‘Where The Heaven Are We?’ due out in a matter of weeks, a new track has surfaced online (that is apparently free when you preorder the record), though is available to listen through the band’s official soundcloud.

With those distinctive carefree vocals and an amount of reverb that’s only acceptable when it’s this sunny, ‘Crush’ bears an intentional simplicity perfect for lounging around and pretending like you don’t have a job/any responsibilities (except to eat more ice cream).

‘Where The Heaven Are We?’ drops on August 5th via Chess Club Records, listen to ‘Crush’ below.
