If there’s one thing that’s been sorely missed from this years crop of fresh indie talent, it’s guitar led-grandiosity, those epic swells that make us want to run through the rain without a care in the world (even if it makes us look a bit like an idiot).
With Bombay Bicycle Club and The Maccabees currently working on new material, we’ve been yearning for some new atmospheric intensity to lose ourselves in, which is what made ‘As Elephants Are’ such a pleasant addition to our inbox earlier this week.
Straight outta Buckinghamshire, this Aylesbury four piece have been getting a lot of attention recently across the BBC, receiving play on countless radio shows and basically just getting anyone behind a microphone at an ungodly hour justifiably rather excited. Fresh from the hype around the two singles they’ve released so far and some buzzworthy performances at Reading and Leeds last month, the quartet have continued the momentum by previewing their biggest track to date.
Effortlessly resonant, ‘Crystal’ subtly increases intensity through rolling drums and soaring guitars, whilst its frankly huge chorus plays to our inner indie-fanboy, building upon foundations laid by their contemporaries to create an anthem in waiting.
