It’s December 27th and we’ve eaten and drunk more in the last 48 hours than any human should. We’re stranded on the sofa, unable to move due to both the extra bulk and the box set of House of Cards. Yes, it’s amazing. It would therefore take something rather special for us to peel ourselves away from the lounge, fetch the iPad and serve you up a dose of winter warmth.
Thankfully, this is quite something. We first featured Ayer back in October when they dropped debut single ‘Circle Down’ (65,000 plays and counting), a loveable slice of disco-pop.
‘Young’ has a slower tempo, and if its predecessor was the soundtrack to some questionable dancing, with its darker tones and claustrophobic synth lines the follow up sounds just a little seedier, in which the protagonist has been ‘driving with no lights on, baby’.
This is less disco and more in line with the downtempo RnB-pop mastered by the likes of Mikky Ekko and IYES. Basically, it’s really really good. Go get some.
